The Waiting Place: Learning to Appreciate Life's Little Delays

Written by Eileen Button.

I was a little wary of this book as I was first reading it. I was afraid that it would be "preachier" than I like as it is written from a Christian perspective. But it is a subject that effects everyone; having to wait. Whether it is for a person, place or event, we are all forced to "wait" many times in our lives. Eileen Button writes of her times of "waiting" in short, humorous and heartwarming short stories.

As a non-Christian, I still found this book to be a delightful read. I do not go to church, nor have I even gone to a friends church for over a decade. Yet reading this book allowed me to step into Eileen's world and discover that it is quite similar to my own. We all deal with stress, frustrations and delays in every aspect of our lives. What this book wants to teach us, is that through learning to find joy and relaxation in the times that we are asked to wait, we can then move to bring this joy and peacefulness to the rest of our lives.

I highly recommend this book to those looking for a thoughtful and uplifting read during any time of "waiting."
